David C. Dempsey was born in Peekskill, New York in
1939, and was the third generation of his family to
practice law there. He received his undergraduate degree
from Colgate University and his law degree from Cornell
University in 1964 and was admitted to the New York
bar that year. During his career, he was Counsel to
the New York State Temporary Commission on the Deaf
from 1969-1971 and was Deputy Town Attorney from 1978-1984
and Town Attorney, Town of Mount Pleasant from 1984-1985
and again from 1988 until his retirement. He also served
as a member of the Judiciary Committee of the Westchester
County Bar Association. He practiced law for 42 years
before retiring on June 30, 2006.
